I read the story of a Zimbabwean plane crashing in China early this morning with my heart in my throat. As a Zimbabwean, images of local mourning crew families flashed before my eyes. Here in Zimbabwe pilots are located high up in the social ladder and such a loss was likely to force a national out cry.
However the more I followed this story the more I realised a lot does not add up. A Zimbabwean plane with an almost entire American crew, now that is a no no. ( Anyone who knows anything about Zimbabwe should know that there is no love lost between our government and Americans, and the government has a big stake in the country's aviation.) Secondly a Zimbabwean plane going to Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan???, I smell a rat.
Yes the plane might be registered in Zimbabwe, because obviously there are loopholes in the National registration system, but its mission is too obscured and questionable to let it pass as a Zimbabwe Cargo plane. Who owns this plane and what was the nature of its cargo. It might just be a subversive mission that went wrong. I urge the reporter who broke this story to look further into it. There is more to this story
I am also not surprised the Zimbabwe Embassy has not responded to any queries that might be put to them.
